{vintage} Miz Waite & her bellii

Word slowly got around that I was doing these photo shoots. My friend Candice gave me a call and I said sure. We planned, shot, and I gave her all images on a disk. Foolishly, I didn't keep any for myself, so these are off her facebook.

These are from 2007 as well.
There's another one I really wish I kept. She was just a tiny, tiny figure against a huge cement wall. It was all shadows and sades and I loved it. But now it's gone somewhere. SIGH.

Always keep your photos. Always.

{vintage} Dazzling D & the belly

This was taken over two years ago, in late August 2007. This was done with a basic point & shoot.

My brother's ex-girlfriend was pregnant and since it was her first, my brother's first and she was willing, I offered up a maternity shoot. We had a lot of fun, and this girl was so model-gorgeous.

We had so much fun during this shoot. I broke it up in two days. The first day we focused on her and the belly. The second day we got my brother involved (those photos to be posted later). We went shopping for a shirt, I made her do her hair, she got all gussied up. When we were looking over the photos later, my mom kept asking "where was this" and when we got to the bridge shots, she just shook her head and slapped my arm.

It was worth it. Darla agrees.

{out takes} d & l's family: not ready

I really like this out-takes series. So much fun.

Diana's belly session took place on a some-what windy day so we didn't take Tia, the youngest, outside too much. And when we did, I realized how HARD it is to photography kids. You's gots to be quick! Like lightning!

Diana wanted a picture of Tia kissing her belly. This is what we got:
Shayne was initially not impressed, at all:
This was hilarious. Still makes me laugh. I love it.
Then Tia, being the sweetie that she is, wanted to help her big sister out. She fixed her hair:
Towards the end, we got really silly. We were trying to figure out poses for two women that didn't imply they were in a romantic relationship (especially since one was the daughter, one the mother!) and these are some of the greatest:
Diana was a pro. Whenever I turned the camera in her direction - big smiles! Leroy took a bit more time to get used to it....
And he was easily distracted: "Squirrel!"*

But yeah. Hilarious. The out-takes make me laugh so much. Diana and I spent hours looking through them, just losing it. Leroy would laugh at us. It was good times.

*Kudos if you know what movie that comes from!

{wild things} bears rock my world

I went home in July (I do love going home) and I was just waiting and waiting to see a bear. Mom and Dad had picked me up in Vancouver and we saw a momma bear with three cubs and Dad zoomed right on by. He was in such a rush that he ignored my whimpers of "but... but... but..." and kept on trucking.

So I had to make a round trip to Saskatoon and Beauval (four hours each way) and on my way back, I saw this bear, creeping along the side of the road. I stopped like a tourist, and snapped a bunch of photos. I love me some bears.
The awesome beast did walk in front of the car, so close I couldn't see him anymore, and I had to back up. Loved it. But that picture was all fuzzy, so no go.. sigh.

{portraits} Miss O, in the city

This is from this summer, sometime in July. I had went home to visit some friends and forced Omeasoo to do an impromptu portrait session in Indigo Books at Saskatoon. It was fun. She's such a good sport, and I think I want to do another one with her next summer. This was all posed (which she said felt unnatural) and I think she would be excellent in a more candid environment, with her and some of her besties.

Anyhoo, some of my favorites...
note: I really hate flash...

note: check out her killer heels - it's what she's know for

So there you go. Indigo was great because it allowed me some fun coloured walls, but the interior light sucked. I hate the flash, so I rarely use it. Ahh wells, all good practice.

{gatherings} a family tradition, 2009

Since 2006, my family has gathered every summer. We have a pot-luck feast, everyone brings their best dish, we eat, we laugh and we talk about one another. It's true. It's really fun. It's done with love.

This year, we gathered at the end of July...
note: dad never did this for us when we were kids...

It was such a good time. I love my family, and I love hanging out with them. They always make me laugh, make me feel loved and make me glad that I come from a family that values being together. And now that we have two baby boys - Colton and Joaquem - they just light up our gatherings, making everyone fall in love with them even more. The cute brats.

Until next year...

{out takes} as promised, steph & tal's no-no's

So there we were, taking photos and having fun. And then they started up. Tal was hilarious. Then Steph caught on. And then I ended up laughing my face off on the ground. Freaking kids.

I told Steph: "Hug him from behind" and then Tal did this:
Then I was trying to get some of Steph with Tal in the background, and he started making faces. This was the best (please note his pockets):
All of the sudden, Steph is trying to do some fancy stuff and Tal was having none of it:
I was trying to get Tal to be romantic and carry her, and this is what I ended up with:
This was by far THEE best ever. They were doing their Charlie's Angels pose and Tal had mentioned there was something on his face....

When we started to edit these, Mom and I were losing it. "Again, again!" we kept saying until Tal got sick of us and left the room. It was just that good! It still makes me giggle.

There you go. the first in my series of out-takes. Gotta love them.
